Description

White Door Games is a one man VR game development company, created by Sergio Hidalgo.

History

Beginnings

Coming out of the Spanish local amateur game development scene, Sergio Hidalgo always knew making games what his true passion. Stealing time from his studies and with the help of two friends, he made "Stick", a beat-em up game that was awarded at the 2006 ArtFutura Game Development Contest, held in Barcelona. Soon after that, Sergio joined the Spanish games industry, working at studios such as Revistronic, and FX Interactive.

Into the Rift

During Summer 2014, Sergio received the Oculus Rift devkit he had ordered some months before, and started playing with it and Unity. After a couple of prototypes, an idea began to take shape: a horror VR game inspired by the dungeon crawlers of old and the modern roguelike. After 2 weeks of intensive development, Sergio submitted the first version of Dreadhalls to the VRJam contest by Oculus and Indiecade, eventually receiving an honorable mention. After the great reception the game had, Sergio decided to work on it full time and turn it into a complete game.
